James Porter 1753-1798

The Porter family were “Plantation Settlers”. James was the eldest of eight children, four sons and four daughters. His is one of the saddest stories in the history of our church.

Nautical Notes being the Journal of a voyage from London to Adelaide commencing 26th April and ending 12 July, 1863 by John Henderson 1841-1903.

The Clipper Ship “Orient”

John Henderson was on her eighth voyage to Adelaide and it was the second voyage of 21. She left Plymouth on 1st May and arrived in Adelaide on 12th July, taking 73 days in all.
